この部分で大事なのは that の役割です。that節 は「〜すること」と訳す場合もありますし、関係代名詞節として先行詞を修飾・補足説明することもありますが、この場合はどちらもあてはまりません。
この that は「同格のthat」で、「〜という●」という形で前の名詞にかかっていきます。ここでは、「〜という her conviction（彼女の確信）」という意味になります。
