スラッシュリーディング＋リスニング 第294回（読解のヒント）

英文を前から読んでいくために、語句のかたまりを作ります。こんな具合に課題文をスラッシュ（斜め線）で区切ります（スラッシュリーディング）。語句のかたまりを意識すると、リスニングで英語の意味をつかむのが楽になります。

We passed over several well-made bridges,／（接続詞の前）and along a paved causeway,／（現在分詞の前）having on either side a succession of beautiful gardens and fertile rice-fields,／（接続詞の前）while before us rose a hill covered with trees,／（前置詞句の前）out of which peeped a number of very pretty-looking villas.
