読解のヒント

over which we had been riding all the morning→　前置詞＋関係代名詞の形です。通常の語順にすると→　we had been riding over which all the morning→　which に先行詞を代入すると→　we had been riding over the country all the morning

extending for many leagues〜 →　the country を修飾（補足説明）する現在分詞句です。

calling her attention〜 →　I を意味上の主語とする分詞構文です。「そして〜」
